There are two beaches. The one you access from the main parking area is the South beach and only short hike away is the dog friendly North beach. In between them there is a rocky area known as Sequit Point which has tide pools.

MALIBU LAGOON
Malibu lagoon is where Malibu Creek meets the ocean. From the parking lot the path leads you through wetlands (we’ve seen a lot of bird watchers on our way)
to the Surfrider beach on your left. You can see the Malibu pier from there.
If your curious how the rich lives after the wetlands turn right and check the amazing beach houses
POINT DUME
So far my favourite beach in Los Angeles with a little hike as a bonus. I would recommend to park bellow the Point Dume trail. Its worth the 8 dollars for a day. Go up for short hike with great views and seals spotting and later enjoy the walk in gorgeous beach. You can finish your perfect morning having lunch in Sunset restaurant in the entrance of the parking area of Point Dume.
SOLSTICE CANYON
MALIBU CREEK STATE PARK
KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK and SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK
The perfect place for a long weekend out of LA. I have to admit lately i was missing a bit of greenery. I wanted to see a forest, smell water in the air and be somewhere without phone signal…Oh the perfect Sequoia park!
I can only recommend Montecito Lodge and their lovely forest cabins with great views and enough space for your family.
Some of the hikes we did with stroller /some hikes have a concrete or dirt path/ but obviously I would recommend to bring a carrier and enjoy the real hiking experience in the wilderness. We loved the hike from Roaring river falls to Zumwalt meadow and Congress trail.
I was so excited to see a bear – preferably from the car – but unfortunately we didn’t
MATADOR BEACH
FRAKLIN CANYON PARK – PART II
What is great about the Hastain Trail? You park right in the beginning of the walk, it’s circular, not too short but easily done in hour or two, has a great view of the city and it’s in Beverly Hills
Officially this hikes end here with the view of the reservoir but continue up through the cut fence until the end. Its only a short climb and so worth it
It’s impossible to do Hastain Trail with a stroller but you can do it with a carrier. Just be careful with the descent on the way back it is a little steep.
You finish the hike in a meadow with a amphitheater and picnic tables
